GLB - The Gramm-Leach Bliley Act
Also known as The Financial Modernization Act of 1999
The main rules under the act that require the use of secure document shredding are:
The Financial Privacy Rule - This governs the collection and disclosure of customers’ personal financial information by financial institutions. It also applies to any companies which handle personal financial information.
The Safeguards Rule - Legislates that financial institutions design, implement and maintain safeguards to protect customer information. It also applies to any companies which handle personal financial information.
